As a rule, I don't like laying more
than six points in the NBA, because of the "Any given night" theory.
It is 'possible' that Cleveland could show up tonight, like they did in Miami,
only losing by 2, but in my opinion, not likely.
The Cavs haven't played a home game
since Wednesday versus Philadelphia, and have been traveling over the holiday
weekend, and that will affect a team playing without their go-to man Kyrie
Irving, and is out for at least three more weeks with a broken left index
finger.
Memphis on the other hand is
healthy, something they haven't had the luxury of being the past couple of
years. Memphis will not sneak up on anyone, but they will end up being in the
conversation at the end of the year as a western conference title contender.
They, more than any other fringe elite team, are a tough match-up come playoff
time.
The Grizzlies are in the midst of a
home stand that spans almost two full weeks, and coming off a win against the
Lakers, look to fatten up that 5-1 home record against the likes of Detroit,
and Toronto before hitting the road. Last point on them, they are overall top
five in both offensive and defensive efficiency so far this year, and that well
rounded play will result in a shellacking of the Cavs tonight. Trust me, lay
the twelve, and don't think once, "That's a lot of points!"
NBA quick hitter: I've been asked to
define my efficiency stats I refer to, here ya go! Offensive Efficiency is the
number of points a team SCORES per 100 possessions. Likewise, Defensive
Efficiency is the number of points a team ALLOWS per 100 possessions.
